LUDHIANA: After TOI highlighted the issue of car-o-bar creating nuisance in different parts of the city, various NGOs which are already working to remove the menace from the city, especially from South City area, have come forward stating that strict action should be initiated.
The residents said that visitors openly urinate on the roadsides and this leads to stray dog menace.
This also creates awkward moments for people passing by . Maneet Dewan said: “I am part of a NGO which is working on the issue for five-six months. We visitged South City area around a month ago, where people are facing many problems. He said that ADCP Gaurav Garg was also part of team of residents against the goings-on.
Though situation was brought to control for a short while, once again, serving drinks at outside restaurants alongside the canal is creating problems. He said that they have also decided to record vidoes and send these to the police demanding action. Rakesh Singla, a resident of Sukhmani Enclave and founder of Let's Clean Ludhiana foundation (NGO), said that they had raised the issue earlier and had met the restaurant owners.With things taking turn for the worse once more, they plan to first approach eatery owners and then file a complaint before the authorities.
Rahul Verma from Sambhav foundation said that the menace also increases road accidents and scuffles take place. He said that families hesitate to move out at night in those certain areas. He said that they will take up the matter with the deputy commissioner of police and will ask him to take strict action.
